Raise an Army for the Maelstrom
Recruit 20 Troops as a Shaman.
Raise an Army for the Maelstrom requires you to recruit 20 Troops as a Shaman, rewarding the Earthen Ring Scouting Map decor item upon completion.
Recruit Troops via Mission Table
Recruit troops using the BfA mission table on any of your Shaman characters — this achievement is warbound, so troops recruited across all your Shamans count toward the same total of 20.
Kill Existing Troops to Recruit More
You cannot recruit new troops while you still have existing ones, and you cannot manually dismiss troops — you must run their vitality to zero by sending them on missions. To kill troops quickly, look for missions with the Lethal hazard (green skull icon), which drains all troop vitality, and intentionally do NOT counter it so the troops die.
Buy Argus Troops for Faster Progress
If your character has completed Argus, you can purchase
Krokul Ridgestalker from an NPC in Krokuun and
Void-Purged Krokul from an NPC in Eredath for
150 Order Resources each (subsequent purchases cost
900 Order Resources per week), as well as
Lightforged Bulwark from an NPC in the Vindicaar. These troops are Unique (5), so you can hold up to 7 of each type by buying in two batches, letting you send 7 troops to die at once instead of just 3, which reduces the grind to roughly 5–6 logins.
Tips
Argus troops do not have the 30-minute recruitment wait time that normal troops have, making them significantly faster to cycle through for the 20-recruit total.
