Glutton for Icy Punishment
In Archmage Xylem's Trial of Frost in Azshara, gain 20 stacks of Essence of Ice without taking damage.
Glutton for Icy Punishment is a 10-point achievement earned in Archmage Xylem's Trial of Frost in Azshara by reaching 20 stacks of Essence of Ice without taking any damage from the spiraling ice clouds or ice blasts.
Reach the Trial Location
Travel to the unnamed island in the top of Azshara, just north-east of Darnassian Base Camp. On the south-west of that island is a portal — take the portals up the mountain without stopping, as pausing causes a frost ball to knock you down. At the top, click the crystal to open the portal, then click the portal itself to enter the Trial of Frost instance.
Use Flying Mount Method
Mount a flying mount and collect the Essence of Ice orbs while airborne — fly away whenever ice beams are incoming to avoid taking damage.
Alternative: Hug the Outer Edge
If not using a flying mount, move slowly along the outer edge of the arena only, collecting orbs that appear there — never move toward the middle or toward any of the eyes. Your Essence of Ice buff lasts a full minute per stack, so there is no need to rush between orbs. Identify safe spots along the edge where the spiraling ice clouds do not reach before attempting the achievement.
Tips
The ice blast collision detection hits you if you are within the front third of the beam's radius, but standing inside the blast from behind does not count as damage taken — approach beams from behind if you must pass near them.
Track the achievement progress actively so you can monitor your stack count without guessing.
