Catch 42 different freshwater fish.
The Limnologist is a 10-point achievement that requires you to catch 42 different species of freshwater fish across Azeroth and beyond.
Fish Ironforge and Loch Modan
In Ironforge, catch Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper and 
Bloated Mud Snapper from the city's open water. Then fly to Loch Modan and fish The Loch for Longjaw Mud Snapper, Loch Frenzy, and Brilliant Smallfish, then fish the schools near the dam for Sagefish.
Fish Elwynn Forest
In Elwynn Forest, catch Brilliant Smallfish from open water at a 60% rate, and 
Bloated Smallfish at under 1% from the same waters.
Fish Redridge Mountains
At Lake Everstill in Redridge Mountains, catch Bristle Whisker Catfish at a 60% rate and 
Bloated Catfish at under 1%.
Fish Deadwind Pass
In Deadwind Pass, fish open water to catch Bloodfin Catfish and Crescent-Tail Skullfish, each at a 20% rate. Zul'Aman also yields Bloodfin Catfish and Crescent-Tail Skullfish if you prefer a dungeon source.
Fish Western Plaguelands
In Western Plaguelands, catch Greater Sagefish from Greater Sagefish Schools at an 80% rate and 
Bloated Trout at under 1% from open water.
Fish Moonglade
In Moonglade, fish open water to catch 
Bloated Redgill at under 1%, Raw Nightfin Snapper between 6pm and 6am in-game time, and Raw Greater Sagefish from schools only.
Fish Blasted Lands
In the Tainted Forest area of Blasted Lands, fish for Plated Armorfish.
Fish Northern Barrens
In Northern Barrens, fish open water to catch 
Deviate Fish.
Fish Twilight Highlands
In Twilight Highlands, fish open water near the Bastion of Twilight for Highland Guppy at a 15% rate, Sharptooth, and Striped Lurker.
Fish Deepholm
In Deepholm, catch Lavascale Catfish from open water at a 30% rate and Albino Cavefish at a 15% rate. Requires at least level 82 to access the portal to Deepholm.
Fish Uldum
In Uldum, fish open water to catch Blackbelly Mudfish at a 15% rate.
Fish Blackfathom Deeps
Enter Blackfathom Deeps and fish the waters inside for Sickly Looking Fish.
Fish Wetlands
In Wetlands, fish schools to catch Raw Sagefish.
Tips
Zones like Wintergrasp can yield multiple fish species in a single location, reducing total travel time compared to visiting separate zones for single fish.
Bloated fish variants can only be caught from the highest drop-rate fish in a given zone's open water, so focus your bloated fish farming in zones where the target fish has the highest spawn weight.
Fish schools grant faster catches than open water for school-only fish such as Raw Sagefish in Wetlands and Raw Greater Sagefish in Moonglade.
Raw Nightfin Snapper in Moonglade is only available between 6pm and 6am in-game time.
