First person on the realm to achieve 525 skill in herbalism.

Realm First! Illustrious Herbalist is awarded to the first player on the realm to reach 525 skill in Herbalism after Cataclysm launches.

1

Train Herbalism and Flying

Log in immediately at launch in Dalaran and train Herbalism to Illustrious and purchase Flight Master's License before heading out.

2

Herb in Storm Peaks

Fly to the K3 area in Storm Peaks and run circuits gathering Icethorn and Lichbloom until you reach 500 skill, which took one player approximately 20 minutes.

3

Travel to Uldum

Hearth to Dalaran and take the Caverns of Time portal, then fly to Uldum; taking the portal costs time compared to hearthing directly to a closer location such as Marshal's Stand in Un'Goro Crater before flying on.

4

Gather Whiptail to 525

Gather Whiptail along the riverbanks of Uldum, which requires 500 skill; the main obstacle is level 82 and 83 crocolisks, though roughly half the herb nodes are far enough from enemies to gather without pulling aggro.

Tips

  • Druids can gather herbs without shifting out of flight form, saving significant time over non-druid classes using 310% or Crusader Aura flying.

  • A +5 Herbalism enchant on gloves would reduce the number of nodes needed to reach 525, shaving time off the run.

  • Avoid detours such as checking the mailbox, doing quests, or farming mobs in unrelated zones, as these cost enough time to lose the realm first to a competing herbalist.
