Defeat General Umbriss while he is affected with Modgud's Malice in Grim Batol on Heroic Difficulty.
Umbrage for Umbriss requires defeating General Umbriss while he is affected by Modgud's Malice in Grim Batol on Heroic Difficulty.
Enter Grim Batol Heroic
Enter Grim Batol on Heroic Difficulty and engage General Umbriss. Face-pull him but avoid dealing damage to him initially, as you need to wait for a Malignant Trogg to spawn among the group of adds.
Control the Malignant Trogg
When the adds spawn, identify the Malignant Trogg — the purple, shadow-priest-looking one — and apply a crowd control effect such as Hex, Polymorph, or Repentance to keep it out of the fight. Re-apply the crowd control as needed throughout the encounter.
Burn Umbriss Down Low
While the Malignant Trogg remains crowd controlled, DPS General Umbriss down to approximately 5-15% health. Note that at 30% health Umbriss enrages and deals significantly increased damage.
Kill Trogg Near Umbriss
With Umbriss at low health, bring the Malignant Trogg close to General Umbriss and kill it — avoid cleaving to prevent unintended damage. This applies Modgud's Malice to Umbriss, turning him purple. The debuff lasts 20 seconds, so immediately burn Umbriss down to complete the achievement.
Tips
If soloing at max level, avoid wearing gear that procs AoE effects, as these can accidentally kill the Malignant Trogg before you are ready. See video guide for a visual walkthrough of the encounter.
The Malignant Trogg debuff on Umbriss lasts only 20 seconds, so have a strong damage cooldown ready to use the moment the Trogg dies.
