Illustrious Grand Master Archaeologist
Obtain 525 skill points in archaeology.
Illustrious Grand Master Archaeologist requires you to reach 525 skill points in the Archaeology secondary profession.
Learn Archaeology Skill
Train the Archaeology profession and open your map to locate dig sites, which are assigned based on your character's level so lower-level characters will not be sent to high-level zones like Tanaris.
Survey Dig Site Locations
Travel to a highlighted dig site on your map, then use the Survey ability to spawn a small telescope that points you toward buried artifacts — the light it emits tells you how close you are, with red meaning far away, yellow meaning you are getting closer, and green meaning you are within roughly 40 yards.
Reach 525 Skill Points
Continue surveying and collecting artifacts across available zones until you hit 525 skill points, at which point Pandaria dig sites become accessible; fitting Archaeology into downtime such as waiting for a dungeon queue can help you progress without dedicating long uninterrupted sessions to it.
