Runed of the Ethereal
Outgrow the use of Runed Ethereal Crests during The War Within Season 3.
Runed of the Ethereal requires all of your gear to reach a hidden highwater mark of item level 704 or higher during The War Within Season 3, at which point you can trade 
Runed Ethereal Crests for Gilded Ethereal Crests.
Track Your Highwater Marks
Use the following macro to see which gear slots are still below 704: /run local n=tInvert(Enum.ItemRedundancySlot),a;for i=0,16 do a = C_ItemUpgrade.GetHighWatermarkForSlot(i); if a < 704 then print(a, n) end end. Any slot printing a number below 704 still needs to be addressed.
Understand Ring and Trinket Slots
Rings and trinkets require two separate equippable items at 704 or higher at the same time — looting the same ring or trinket twice does not count since most are unique-equipped, and the tracker checks your second-highest piece.
Upgrade or Loot a Belt
If the D.I.S.C. belt is your only belt, you must loot or upgrade a different belt to at least item level 704, as crafting a belt does not count toward the achievement.
Watch for Prepatch Item Level Bugs
Reshii Wraps only count at item level 59 rather than their listed item level in the 12.0 prepatch, so replace that slot with a valid item at 704 or higher if the macro flags it.
Relog if Achievement Doesn't Fire
After upgrading the final qualifying item to 704, relog your character if the achievement does not award immediately.
Tips
The achievement checks the highest item level you have ever looted per slot, not what you currently have equipped, so upgrading an existing piece counts even without re-equipping it.
Weekly maintenance on Tuesday, 19 Aug 2025 is when all characters with full 704 highwater marks should be automatically awarded the achievement.
