Win the Booty Bay fishing contest.

Master Angler of Azeroth is a 20-point achievement earned by winning the Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Extravaganza contest in Booty Bay.

Know the Contest Start Time

The Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Extravaganza starts at 2pm PST — not 2pm server time. Arriving early is better than arriving late, so plan to be in Stranglethorn Vale before that time.

Bring Water Walking

Some fishing pools in Stranglethorn Vale are difficult to reach without the ability to walk on water, so bring a Elixir of Water Walking or another source of water walking before the contest begins.

Organize a Group Effort

Winning solo is extremely difficult due to the number of competitors on a realm. Coordinating with a group of friends to cover the zone together significantly improves the odds of a first-place finish, which awards the Dread Pirate Ring.

Target the Fishing Pools

Fish Speckled Tastyfish from pools throughout Stranglethorn Vale. At 42.3, 46.9 one player completed the required catches in exactly 20 minutes.

First, Second, and Third Place

As of patch 5.1, there are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in the contest. Only first place guarantees the full reward set including the Dread Pirate Ring; the achievement itself requires a first-place win.

Tips

  • The Kalu'ak Fishing Derby was removed as an alternate path to this achievement as of patch 5.1, and all its associated rewards were folded into the Stranglethorn Extravaganza rewards — the STV contest is now the only way to obtain this achievement.
