Chaos Theory requires defeating Anomalus in The Nexus on Heroic difficulty without destroying any Chaotic Rifts.
Enter The Nexus Heroic
Enter The Nexus on Heroic difficulty and begin tanking Anomalus at the very bottom of the ramps to prevent players from falling off the edge during the fight.
Kite Away From Rifts
Each time Anomalus spawns a Chaotic Rift, kite him at least 20 yards away from it — do not destroy any rifts, as that will fail the achievement.
Survive the Rift Phase
At every 25% health threshold, Anomalus becomes invulnerable and turns into a rift himself for roughly 20 to 30 seconds; during this phase all previously spawned rifts gain infinite range, so the entire group should stand 15 or more yards directly behind the tank so that all lightning attacks from the rifts hit only the tank.
Kill Adds During Invulnerability
While Anomalus is invulnerable, all DPS should focus and burn down the adds that spawn from the rifts and pass by the tank.
Repeat Until Anomalus Dies
When the rift phase ends, kite Anomalus another 20 yards away from the existing rifts and resume dealing damage, repeating the kiting and rift phase steps each time they occur until Anomalus is defeated.
Tips
Applying Dampen Magic to all party members significantly reduces the AoE damage output from the Chaotic Rifts, easing pressure on the healer throughout the fight.
You are not restricted to the boss plateau — kite Anomalus freely across the area to maintain safe distance from accumulated rifts.
