When a Rock is Just a Rock
Collect rocks with Roska while Excavating with the Azerothian Archives around the Dragon Isles.
When a Rock is Just a Rock is a 5-point achievement earned by collecting rocks with Roska 10 times while participating in Azerothian Archives Excavation quests or World Quests across the Dragon Isles.
Start Excavation 101 Quest
During the Azerothian Archives introduction quest Excavation 101, meet the NPC outside, place the Fire Totem, speak with the NPC to start digging, then click the totem and click the rock. Abandon the quest and repeat this process 10 times to complete the achievement without waiting for World Quests.
Farm via World Quests
If using World Quests instead, join a raid group before starting — this is critical, as looting a rock outside of a raid group removes it until the next World Quest cycle. Head to at 64.97, 47.35 in Ohn'ahran Plains as a general excavation area, or go to at 65.89, 46.23 in Ohn'ahran Plains for Excavation: Buried in the Riverbed, or at 46.79, 50.29 in Zaralek Cavern for Excavation: Scattered Around the Tower.
Find and Repeat the Rock Spot
Each excavation area has at least one dirt pile or geyser that always spawns a rock. Place your totem on each dirt or geyser spot to uncover what is underneath. Once you find the rock spot, click the rock repeatedly — the rock respawns at the same location each time you click the totem again, so you do not need to move. Continue until you have collected 10 rocks total.
Tips
Using the Excavation 101 introduction quest method by abandoning and repeating is faster than waiting for World Quests to cycle.
The rock always spawns at the same dirt pile or geyser spot within a given excavation area, so identifying that spot once lets you farm it repeatedly without searching.
