Just an Ordinary Gas Cloud
Extract elements from 50 gas clouds with the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor.
Just an Ordinary Gas Cloud is a 5-point achievement earned by using the 
Zapthrottle Mote Extractor to extract elements from 50 gas clouds found in Outland and Northrend.
Obtain the Extractor
You need the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, a crafted Engineering item from The Burning Crusade era. You can buy one on the Auction House, or craft it yourself by learning the 
Schematic: Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, which is rewarded from the quest The Zapthrottle Mote Extractor! from both Alliance and Horde versions.
Install Gathermate2 for Cloud Tracking
Download Gathermate2 and the Gathermate2 Gas Clouds data from CurseForge, then import the gas cloud data through the addon's import tab (Menu > Options > Addons > Gathermate2 > Import) so cloud spawn locations appear on your minimap.
Farm Sholazar Basin First
Sholazar Basin in Northrend is highly reliable for gas cloud spawns — Cinder Clouds and Steam Clouds appear frequently there, and flying circuits around the zone is an efficient way to stack up extractions quickly.
Farm Outland Nagrand and Zangarmarsh
For Outland, start in Nagrand (Windy Clouds) flying out from Shattrath, then head toward the Throne of the Elements and cross into Zangarmarsh (Swamp Gas Clouds), making sure to hit the fire and air elemental spot on the right side of Throne of the Elements. After a full lap through Zangarmarsh finishing at Zabra'jin, disable War Mode, run a full lap back through Nagrand and return to Zabra'jin, then use your 
Dalaran Hearthstone to reach Orgrimmar quickly, re-enable War Mode, and repeat the circuit. Enlarging your minimap and moving it to the center of the screen makes spotting clouds significantly easier.
Skip Low-Yield Outland Zones
Hellfire Peninsula and Terokkar Forest have no gas cloud spawns, so skip both entirely. Nagrand can also be unproductive on some sessions, in which case focusing entirely on Sholazar Basin is a reliable fallback to finish the remaining extractions.
Tips
The full 50-extraction achievement can be completed in approximately 1.5 hours using the Nagrand-to-Zangarmarsh Outland circuit combined with Sholazar Basin.
Gas clouds function like herb or ore nodes on the minimap — staying in open areas away from terrain obstacles helps you spot and reach them faster.
