16 rares are visible on the map and minimap with standard vignette markers and respawn frequently with no prerequisites required. These count toward the 10 encounters needed and can be found across the Forbidden Reach, including near the Volatile Brazier at 69.75, 54.62, the Farscale Shrine at 67.28, 76, and the Resonant Crystal at 83.79, 54.85.

13 profession-related rares require an Artisan Curios item to summon — specifically, one crafted key per rare. Craft reagents drop from mobs in the Forbidden Reach, and recipes are sold by Trader Hag'arth. Summoning or defeating a profession rare is not tied to your own profession, and summoning items can also be purchased from the Auction House if you cannot craft them yourself. The player who summons the rare receives Summoner's Luck and bonus loot. Summoning objects for these rares can spawn near locations such as Raw Argali Pelts at 50.46, 86.07, Tuskarr Kite Post at 60.24, 91.52, Spiceless Stew at 54.41, 45.95, and Farscale Shrine at 67.28, 76.

Once per week, defeating and looting a profession rare can reward Untapped Forbidden Knowledge, Dragon Shard of Knowledge, and Zskera Vault Keys, along with Level 2 and Level 3 Primalist Tokens. If you have the matching Dragon Isles profession, you may also receive additional profession knowledge.
