Knowledge is... Preserved? is a 10-point Mythic difficulty achievement earned by defeating Chargath, Bane of Scales in Neltharus while fewer than 15 books are burned during the encounter.

Set Mythic Difficulty

Enter Neltharus on Mythic difficulty before engaging Chargath, Bane of Scales.

Position Boss Upstairs

Pull Chargath into the right-side book area at the top of the stairs and position him snugly in the corner — this baits his mechanics, including Fiery Focus, into the corner where only two books are present rather than the main book collection.

Interrupt Fiery Focus

Do not allow Chargath to complete his Fiery Focus cast, as finishing it will burn all books and fail the achievement. Use all three Grounding Chains to trip and stun him, interrupting the cast — be aware that breaking chains applies a stacking damage-over-time effect, so stagger their use and save personal defensives for when Fiery Focus cannot be avoided.

Burn Down Chargath

Deal as much damage as possible to Chargath as quickly as you can — this fight is a soft DPS check, and higher damage output reduces the number of Fiery Focus casts you need to handle. Heroism or Bloodlust is recommended if available.

Tips

  • The Achievement Tracker will shift from white to red if the book-burn threshold is crossed, giving real-time feedback on whether the attempt is still valid.

  • This encounter can be soloed at level 80+ by tanking Chargath in the upstairs corner, keeping all dangerous mechanics away from the main book area.
