The Lunker Below
Use fishing to lure the Lurking Lunker living in the lava out, then engage and defeat the Primal Council in the Vault of the Incarnates on Normal difficulty or higher.
The Lunker Below is a 10-point achievement earned in the Vault of the Incarnates by fishing up the Lurking Lunker from a special lava pool after killing the four mini-bosses, then defeating the Primal Council on Normal difficulty or higher while keeping the Lurking Lunker alive.
Set Normal Difficulty
Enter the Vault of the Incarnates on Normal difficulty or higher. Any sufficiently geared damage spec can complete this solo.
Kill Four Mini-Bosses
In the Primal Council boss room, kill all four mini-boss trash enemies before engaging the Primal Council themselves. Do not pull the Primal Council yet.
Fish Up the Lurking Lunker
After the four mini-bosses are dead, a special fish pool spawns in the lava on the right side beside the boss entry ramp. Fish from it to summon the Lurking Lunker, which appears as a giant frog. If you have the Find Fish ability, enable it to locate the pool on your minimap.
Pull and Defeat Primal Council
Engage the Primal Council while the Lurking Lunker is active. Kill all four Primal Council bosses while ignoring the Lurking Lunker entirely — your AoE abilities will not kill it, and it does not need to be defeated for the achievement.
Dodge Lunker Abilities
The Lurking Lunker uses two abilities during the fight: a hop that leaves a large brown circle on the ground (move out to avoid a significant knockback, potentially into lava) and a green frontal cone poison that applies a stacking debuff (10 stacks causes instant death). Both abilities have a visible cast bar, giving you time to reposition.
Tips
The Lurking Lunker has approximately 2.6 billion health, far more than all four Primal Council bosses combined, so never attempt to kill it — focus entirely on the Primal Council.
Your Achievement Tracker will turn from red to white once the criteria are met, confirming the achievement has been earned.
