Defeat Kokia Blazehoof after heating up 4 life pools with Molten Boulder in Ruby Life Pools on Mythic difficulty.
Does Steam Do Fire Damage? is a 10-point Mythic difficulty achievement earned by defeating Kokia Blazehoof in Ruby Life Pools after heating all 4 egg pools using the Molten Boulder mechanic.
Set Mythic Difficulty
Set Ruby Life Pools to Mythic difficulty before entering. The achievement tracker will display in red and turn white as each pool criterion is met.
Clear Trash Around Ring
Head to Kokia Blazehoof's ring fight area and clear all trash around the entire ring. Locate the 4 egg pools on the outer edges of the ring — these are raised areas accessible by small stairs, two per side, and are distinct from the water on the inner ring.
Learn Kokia's Ability Sequence
Kokia always cycles her abilities in this order: Add (Ritual of Blazebind) → Boulder → Boulder → repeat. If the first set of boulders is missed, the sequence will repeat, giving another opportunity.
Position for Each Pool
Pull Kokia toward the first egg pool but stop slightly short to let the add spawn away from the pool. Once the add is spawned, drag Kokia behind the pool and have the healer and DPS stand at the top of the stairs just outside the pool. DPS should quickly kill the add and interrupt its casts after the first one.
Roll Boulder Through Pool
With the tank positioned behind the pool, allow Kokia to hurl a boulder so that it rolls through the egg pool rather than landing directly in it — rolling through the pool is significantly more consistent at triggering the steam effect than a direct hit inside the pool. A visible steam cloud rising from the eggs confirms 1 of 4 pools is heated.
Repeat for All 4 Pools
Repeat the positioning and boulder-rolling process at the remaining three egg pools around the ring. Once all 4 pools have been heated with steam, defeat Kokia Blazehoof to complete the achievement.
Tips
Avoid standing inside the pool when trying to trigger the steam effect — having the tank positioned behind the pool so the boulder rolls through it is far more reliable than a direct hit landing inside.
For solo or small group attempts, Kokia moves quickly between pools, so downtime between heating each pool is minimal.
