The Jailer's Gauntlet: Layer 8
Complete Layer 8 of The Jailer's Gauntlet in Torghast, Tower of the Damned.
The Jailer's Gauntlet: Layer 8 is a Torghast achievement earned by completing Layer 8 of The Jailer's Gauntlet, which also awards The Jailer's Gauntlet: Layer 7 if you skip directly to Layer 8 after completing Layer 6.
Unlock Layer 8 Access
Complete Layer 6 of The Jailer's Gauntlet first, which simultaneously unlocks both Layer 7 and Layer 8. You can then skip directly to Layer 8 and receive achievement credit for both layers 7 and 8 upon completion.
Play Beast Mastery Hunter
Run Layer 8 as a Beast Mastery Hunter — even at around 226 item level with no tier pieces, you can clear it by maintaining near-100% uptime on Aspect of the Turtle, which allows you to take little to no damage throughout the run.
Equip Craven Strategem and Unity
Equip a Craven Strategem in your neck slot and a Unity legendary (boots are recommended for stat optimization) before entering Layer 8. Both can be obtained at relatively low item levels and still provide meaningful contribution to the strategy.
Prioritize Floor One Survival
Floor one has the strictest damage and survivability requirement of the run — enter and exit until you receive strong Anima Powers, use consumables including Drums on this floor, and avoid allowing large enemy packs to form. Once floor one is cleared, the remainder of the run is significantly more forgiving.
Reset Cooldowns After Each Death
If you die on the early floors, wait for all cooldowns to fully return before re-engaging. Be liberal with cooldowns rather than saving them, as later floors are easier and do not require the same resource conservation.
Tips
Completing this achievement in Dragonflight is more accessible than it was during Shadowlands, when some classes found it objectively not completable regardless of item level or talents.
Night Fae with Dreamweaver's Soulbind tree maxed out at around Renown 55 was used for the Beast Mastery Hunter clear, providing meaningful passive survivability.
