I Don't Know What I Expected
Defeat Lady Inerva Darkvein after defeating the Dark Animus in Castle Nathria on Normal difficulty or higher.
I Don't Know What I Expected is a 10-point achievement earned by defeating Lady Inerva Darkvein in Castle Nathria on Normal difficulty or higher after first summoning and killing the Dark Animus using the
Son of Animus battle pet during the same encounter.
Set Difficulty to Normal
Enter Castle Nathria on Normal difficulty or higher. The achievement requires at least Normal difficulty to be valid.
Summon Son of Animus
Before or at the pull of Lady Inerva Darkvein, summon your
Son of Animus battle pet. Only one player in the raid should have the pet active — each additional Son of Animus out will spawn an additional Dark Animus, making the fight significantly harder.
Survive Four Minutes
Once the fight begins, the Son of Animus will begin absorbing anima. Survive for approximately 4 minutes while it reaches 100 energy, at which point it transforms into the Dark Animus boss.
Kill the Dark Animus
Once the Dark Animus spawns, you have 1 minute to kill it. Save major cooldowns and Bloodlust/Heroism for this moment and burn it down immediately — the Dark Animus hits very hard and its healers may encounter a silence mechanic. Stacking the Dark Animus with Lady Inerva Darkvein and any other active adds allows for effective cleave damage.
Defeat Lady Inerva Darkvein
After the Dark Animus dies, your achievement tracker will update. Finish the fight by killing Lady Inerva Darkvein to complete the achievement.
Tips
If you are pushing the achievement with a smaller group, be aware that as of a past patch the Dark Animus's health scales with raid size, so smaller groups face a proportionally more manageable add.
A strategy used by some groups is to have the Dark Animus spawn just as Lady Inerva Darkvein reaches her Phase 4 transition (around 25% health), allowing both to be killed together with cleave damage — see the video guide for a visual walkthrough.
