ExSPEARiential
Defeat Devos, Paragon of Doubt after hitting her with five Spears of Duty in the Spires of Ascension on Mythic difficulty.
ExSPEARiential requires you to defeat Devos, Paragon of Doubt in the Spires of Ascension on Mythic difficulty after hitting her with five Spears of Duty, which are floating in the sky above the boss arena.
Set Mythic Difficulty
Enter the Spires of Ascension on Mythic difficulty. The Spears of Duty required for this achievement are the glowing blue circles floating in the sky above the arena, not the Archon's Spear on the platform used to bring Devos down after the orb phases.
Control Boss Phase Timing
Devos phases at 70% health or after 3 casts of Abyssal Detonation, so hold DPS until 2–3 Spears of Duty are available in the air. The spears drop from the 5 pairs of angels fighting above the arena — each time one pair is defeated, they leave a spear behind.
Jump Off Platform Edge
Jump off the edge of the boss platform to launch into the sky, then fall or fly toward a glowing blue circle to land in it and pick up a spear. Walk backwards slowly off the edge to reach spears positioned toward the back. Watch the Abyssal Detonation cast timer and return to the safety circle before it fires, or it will kill you.
Throw All Five Spears
Throw the spear at Devos using the throwing UI that appears when you pick one up. Collect and throw all 5 spears before killing her. Doing 2–3 spears per wind phase is recommended, as the Lingering Doubt debuff stacks and deals increasing damage the longer you remain in the wind phase.
Kill Devos for Credit
After all 5 spears have been thrown, kill Devos to complete the achievement. The achievement tracker may incorrectly show 4/5 and remain red even after all 5 spears have confidently connected — kill her anyway, as the achievement still awards correctly even when the tracker appears incomplete.
Tips
When soloing, use a pet or minion to maintain aggro on Devos while you jump off the platform to collect spears — the fight resets if no player is on the platform during phase 1, but a pet holding aggro prevents this.
If using a Hunter, Misdirect to your pet, command your pet to stay on Devos, then jump off to grab a spear. If Devos reaggros onto you while you're airborne, command your pet to attack her again and Feign Death to return aggro to the pet.
