Smoke Test
Defeat Wrathion in Ny'alotha, the Waking City after defeating 10 Crackling Shards within 3 seconds of each other on Normal difficulty or higher.
Smoke Test requires you to defeat Wrathion in Ny'alotha, the Waking City after killing 10 Crackling Shards within 3 seconds of each other, and can only be completed on Normal or Heroic difficulty.
Enter Ny'alotha on Normal or Heroic
This achievement cannot be completed on Mythic difficulty. Enter Ny'alotha, the Waking City on Normal or Heroic and make your way to Wrathion.
Damage Wrathion to 50%
Deal damage to Wrathion until he reaches roughly 50% health, then stop and wait for him to cast Smoke and Mirrors, which triggers the Crackling Shards to spawn.
Kill 10 Shards within 3 seconds
Once the Crackling Shards are active, use a high-burst area-of-effect ability to kill 10 of them within 3 seconds. Hunter players can spec into Barrage and line up the shards before popping cooldowns to hit as many as possible in a single pass.
Defeat Wrathion
After killing the required shards and confirming the achievement has triggered, finish off Wrathion to complete the encounter.
Tips
Feral Druids and other specs with strong burst AoE can solo this without grouping by simply waiting for Smoke and Mirrors and then burning the shards down quickly.
Hunter Beast Mastery with Barrage is a reliable solo setup — position yourself to hit the maximum number of shards in one Barrage cast, then pop all cooldowns simultaneously.
If you are using the Scales that drop during the fight, act quickly after soaking them, as you need all 10 kills within a strict 3-second window.
