Enter Pet Battle Challenge: Stratholme and check the six possible letter spawn locations before doing any pet battles: at 68.9, 54, at 59.7, 40.6, at 57.8, 36.9, at 56.9, 50.8, at 48.6, 24.9, and at 40.2, 10.4. If the Discarded Letter is not found at any of these spots, exit and restart the instance. This typically takes around 5 restarts. Do not click the mailbox before picking up the letter — clicking it first renders it permanently unclickable for that run.

Once you have the Discarded Letter, bring it to the mailbox at 57.8, 13.6 to summon Postmaster Malown. Defeat him within approximately 20 minutes — if he is not defeated in that window, he leaves and cannot be summoned again even if you reset the dungeon.

Postmaster Malown's team follows an Undead, Magic, Undead lineup. Use a pet faster than 311 speed with a dodge ability to avoid Curse of Doom. A strong team is: a Critter or Aquatic pet with critter damage (such as Tolai Hare with abilities 2/2/2), a non-Dragonkin pet with Dragonkin attacks preferably a Beast (such as Dreadmaw with abilities 2/1/2), and a second Critter or Aquatic pet with critter damage. Open with Dodge on turn 1, then Stampede on turns 2–4, and Flurry on turns 5–6 against the first Undead. Switch to Dreadmaw when Plagued Mailemental enters and use Flame Breath until it falls, then cycle Glowing Toxin, Burrow, and Flame Breath against Soul Collector.
