Intro to Marine Biology
Defeat the Blackwater Behemoth in The Eternal Palace after collecting 50 samples of sea life from within the Darkest Depths on Normal Difficulty or higher.
Intro to Marine Biology requires you to collect 50 samples of sea life from the Darkest Depths and then defeat the Blackwater Behemoth in The Eternal Palace on Normal difficulty or higher.
Pull the Blackwater Behemoth
Kill all the trash in the tunnel to draw the Blackwater Behemoth out of his cave, then tag the boss to start the fight and unlock the ability to collect sea life across the zone.
Collect 50 Sea Life Samples
Swim around the Darkest Depths and click any interactable sea life — the collectible creatures are Abyssal Clam, Depth Skulker, Scavenging Crab, and Ventfeeder Worm. Aim for 55–60 samples since there is no in-game tracker and you must count manually. If you have Druid available, use Aquatic Form to swim faster while collecting.
Tag Boss Before Finishing
Any player collecting samples must hit the Blackwater Behemoth at least once during the encounter, otherwise they will not receive the achievement upon the boss's death.
Defeat the Blackwater Behemoth
Once you have collected at least 50 samples, return to the Blackwater Behemoth and finish the fight to earn the achievement.
Tips
Assign collectors to tank specialization so they avoid being one-shot by Toxic Spine while swimming the zone.
If you are soloing, avoid carrying the healing buff from a puffer fish when swimming over deep water, as it causes instant death — wait for the 45-second buff to expire before venturing back out.
