Doomsoul Surprise
Complete the Drustvar Assault World Quest "Lights Out" with a single Doomsoul.
Doomsoul Surprise requires you to complete the Drustvar Assault World Quest 'Lights Out' using only a single Doomsoul from start to finish, never letting it die before cursing the commander.
Wait for Drustvar Assault
This World Quest only appears when the Drustvar incursion is active. Watch for it to become available before attempting the achievement.
Click the mask
Click the mask to take control of a Doomsoul. You will be stationary at first. Do not press any buttons yet.
Use walk toggle immediately
Toggle your run/walk keybind to switch to walk speed as soon as you press the '1' action button to start moving. Walking gives you far more control over your Doomsoul and is essential for navigating safely.
Kill only patrolling groups
Move toward patrolling groups of Alliance soldiers to fill the progress bar. Never approach stationary mobs near any fencing or barricades. Run in circles near patrol paths if needed, as patrols respawn approximately every 30 seconds.
Never use the detonate button
The '2' action key detonates your Doomsoul instantly, destroying it and failing the achievement. Only use the '1' button to move and turn throughout the entire quest.
Bypass barricades via the river
Once the progress bar is full, head north along the left side of the World Quest area near the river to avoid the barricades. Pass the tree stump and continue to the full-length barricade blocking the commander.
Squeeze through to the commander
To get past the final barricade blocking the commander, move to the base of the cliff on the left side and squeeze through the gap between a couple of trees and the rock face. Once through, walk up to the commander and curse him to complete the quest and earn the achievement.
Optional: use a friend
A second player can enter their own Doomsoul and fill the progress bar to 100% while you hold your Doomsoul back and wait. Once the bar reaches 100%, activate your Doomsoul with walk toggled on and walk directly to the commander to curse him. Your friend's Doomsoul can die freely without affecting your achievement.
Tips
If the World Quest does not appear during a Drustvar Assault, it may simply not be in the rotation for that incursion. Check again during the next Drustvar Assault.
