Barrel of Monkeys
Defeat Grong in the Battle of Dazar'alor after destroying 6 Barrels on Normal Difficulty or higher.
Barrel of Monkeys is a 10-point achievement earned by defeating Grong in the Battle of Dazar'alor on Normal difficulty or higher after destroying all 6 barrels using his slam ability.
Set Normal Difficulty
Enter the Battle of Dazar'alor and set the difficulty to Normal or higher before proceeding.
Clear Trash to Grong
Clear all trash mobs leading up to Grong without starting the boss encounter.
Collect the Six Barrels
Before ascending the stairs to the boss area, locate the 6 barrels along the sides of the staircase. You can mount up while carrying each barrel to move them faster. Bring all 6 barrels up to the boss fight area and group them closely together.
Position Barrels Near Grong
Place all 6 barrels next to Grong so that melee attackers can remain close to them. The barrels must be destroyed by Grong's Reverberating Slam (Horde version) or Deathly Slam (Alliance version).
Begin the Fight Carefully
Start the encounter and deal damage slowly. Grong gains a 20% damage buff for 30 seconds per barrel destroyed, so wait until after a tantrum phase to let him destroy the barrels, reducing the risk of taking excessive damage from the stacking buff. If the full 120% damage buff from all 6 barrels destroyed simultaneously is too high, destroy 3 barrels at a time instead.
Defeat Grong
Once all 6 barrels have been destroyed by Grong's slam ability, deal maximum damage to defeat him and complete the achievement.
Tips
You can mount while carrying the barrels, which speeds up the process of moving all 6 from the staircase to the boss area.
If the stacking damage buff after destroying all 6 barrels at once is too high for your group to survive, split the barrel destruction into two groups of 3 instead of all at once.
