Pet Battle Challenge: Gnomeregan

Alliance players pick up the quest from Tizzy in Boralus, while Horde players get it from Radek in Dazar'alor at the bottom of the pyramid.

Travel to Gnomeregan and take the elevator down, then turn left — the pet battle NPC is just beside the dungeon entrance. Do not rely on the minimap marker, as it is bugged.

Horde players can avoid death and repair costs by going to Grom'gol Base Camp in Northern Stranglethorn, taking the teleport into Gnomeregan, creating a custom group and immediately leaving it, then waiting about a minute to be teleported out — spawning directly in front of Micro Zoox.

The challenge leans heavily on mechanical and elemental pet types, and 8 of the 12 fights have random backline pets, so bring a deep roster of elemental and aquatic pets. Recommended frontline pets include Singing Sunflower and Nether Faerie Dragon.

Use Crazy Carrot with abilities 2/X/1 and spam Blistering Cold on cooldown, filling with Ironbark otherwise. When Crazy Carrot dies, bring in Lil' Tika (2/1/2) or Zandalari Shinchomper (X/1/2), use Black Claw then Aura of Gonk, and refresh Black Claw as needed — Aura of Gonk keeps the raptor healed while Blistering Cold finishes the boss.

Use a Rabbit with Dodge, Stampede, and Flurry — Dodge, Stampede, Flurry, Dodge, Stampede (Rabbit dies). Bring in a Frog and use Tongue Lash x2, Swarm of Flies, Tongue Lash x2, Swarm of Flies, Heal, then swap. Finish with Benax using Bubble, Mudslide, and Tongue Lash until the enemy is dead.

Use any Zandalari pet with Black Claw and Hunting Party as your primary setup, supplemented with appropriate pets to handle the random backline enemies.

Use an S/S Zandalari pet: open with Black Claw then Hunting Party to kill the enemy Napalm Carrier, cast Black Claw again before your Zandalari pet dies, then bring in a Rabbit and use Stampede to finish the remaining enemy.

Finishing normal mode unlocks a teleport to Gnomeregan from Manapoof outside your faction's BFA pet shop, and also unlocks heroic mode where no bandaging is allowed. Heroic mode can be completed weekly to earn a Pristine Gizmo, which is used to purchase various pets and rewards from Micro Zoox outside the instance entrance.
