Learn the ability to find fish.

Fish Don't Leave Footprints is a 10-point achievement earned by learning the 'Find Fish' ability, which is granted by reading the Weather-Beaten Journal, obtained from fishing up trunks and crates or from a daily fishing quest.

1

Fish in Stranglethorn Vale

Head to the west coast of Stranglethorn Vale at 72.56, 40.47 and fish the Schooner Wreckage schools. Each wreckage yields roughly 2 trunks, and players report finding the Weather-Beaten Journal within about 10 minutes of fishing here.

2

Open trunks for the journal

The Weather-Beaten Journal appears inside tradeable containers from the wreckages — if you have not yet learned Find Fish, you can open the container without looting it to send it to another character, or leave only the journal inside and take the rest. Note that if the container is looted or opened by a character who already has Find Fish, the journal will disappear from the box; the same happens if you send a box found on a character without Find Fish to one that already has it.

3

Activate Find Fish

After reading the Weather-Beaten Journal, select 'Find Fish' on your minimap tracking feature and approach any body of water — nearby schools of fish will appear as sparkling nodes on the minimap, functioning like ore tracking for miners or herb tracking for herbalists.

Tips

  • Oil spill pools in Windshear Crag rarely drop trunks, making them an inefficient source for the Weather-Beaten Journal — Schooner Wreckage pools in Stranglethorn Vale are significantly faster.

  • The Weather-Beaten Journal can also drop from the daily fishing quest reward bag, giving you an additional daily chance without needing to fish wreckages.
