Defeat Algalon the Observer in Ulduar after closing 3 Black Holes within 10 seconds.
Supermassive requires you to defeat Algalon the Observer in Ulduar after closing 3 Black Holes within 10 seconds by kiting Living Constellations into them.
Tank Algalon Without Taking Hits
To avoid accumulating 5 stacks of Phase Punch — which teleports you to the spirit realm and resets the boss — use a pet or statue to tank Algalon. Warlocks can summon a Voidwalker, disable Consuming Shadows, set it to passive, then use Suffering to taunt Algalon and Move To to position the Voidwalker off to the side. Brewmaster Monks and Mistweaver Monks can place a Black Ox Statue near the edge of the room to hold aggro.
Kill Collapsing Stars Close Together
Kill Collapsing Stars near the center of the room and close to each other — not at the edges — so that the resulting Black Holes are grouped tightly. You may need to wait through 3 to 4 rounds of Collapsing Stars spawning to get three Black Holes in good positions. Do not step on a Black Hole yourself, as that causes a boss reset.
Kite Living Constellations Into Black Holes
Once three Black Holes are positioned close together, kite Living Constellations into all three Black Holes within 10 seconds. Because the Collapsing Stars spawn in fixed locations, grouping the Black Holes tightly reduces the distance you need to cover during the kite. If you are not fast enough on a given attempt, entering a Black Hole yourself resets the boss, but any previously closed Black Holes still count toward the achievement — so partial progress carries over.
Defeat Algalon the Observer
After closing 3 Black Holes within 10 seconds, defeat Algalon the Observer to complete the Supermassive achievement.
Tips
If RNG produces poor Black Hole positioning, intentionally step into a Black Hole to reset the encounter and try again without losing achievement credit for holes already closed in prior attempts.
