Black Rook Moan
Defeat Amalgam of Souls after killing a Frustrated Soul in Black Rook Hold on Mythic difficulty.
Black Rook Moan is a 10-point achievement earned by defeating Amalgam of Souls after killing a Frustrated Soul in Black Rook Hold on Mythic difficulty.
Enter Black Rook Hold
Enter Black Rook Hold on Mythic difficulty and fight Amalgam of Souls down to 50% health, at which point the boss becomes stationary at the center of the room and begins casting Call Souls.
Isolate One Restless Soul
Call Souls spawns eight Restless Souls at the outer edges of the room that slowly walk toward the boss — pick one and apply crowd control to keep it from reaching Amalgam of Souls for 60 seconds, at which point it transforms into a Frustrated Soul (visually identical but with a red tint).
Use Effective CC Abilities
Druid Entangling Roots works exceptionally well and only needs to be recast every 30 seconds; Death Knight Chains of Ice, Asphyxiate, and Death Grip can be rotated to hold a soul in a corner; Hunter Ranger's Net also works. Priest Shackle Horror, Mage Ring of Frost and Polymorph, Monk Paralysis, and Demon Hunter Imprison do NOT work on Restless Souls.
Kill the Frustrated Soul
Once the held Restless Soul becomes a Frustrated Soul after 60 seconds, kill it, then finish off Amalgam of Souls to complete the achievement.
Tips
If a soul you are holding disappears unexpectedly while still at full health, simply attempt the encounter again — this is an intermittent issue with no confirmed cause.
