Catch all of the rare Legion fish.

Bigger Fish to Fry requires you to catch all of the rare Legion fish across the Broken Isles zones, and completing it rewards a Luminous Pearl that starts a quest chain leading to the Underlight Angler artifact fishing pole.

1

Obtain Arcane Lures First

Do NOT fish from open water — using Arcane Lures dramatically reduces the time needed for this achievement. Arcane Lures are obtained from Conjurer Margoss on a floating island north of Dalaran. Joining a group via the Group Finder by searching 'fish', 'margoss', or 'drowned mana' will help you collect Drowned Mana quickly to spend with him.

2

Catch Azsuna Rare Fish

For the Leyshimmer Blenny, first catch Aromatic Murloc Slime to attract the Salteye Skrog-Hunter who drops Skrog Toenail bait — fish at 62, 27 in Azsuna. For the Ghostly Queenfish, use Rusty Queenfish Brooch bait at 52, 35 in Azsuna. For the Nar'thalas Hermit, use Pearlescent Conch bait at 52, 35 in Azsuna.

3

Catch Val'Sharah Rare Fish

For the Ancient Mossgill, use Rotten Fishbone bait at 68, 43 in Val'Sharah — the Rotten Fishbone spawns a Lorlathil Druid who applies a bait spell. For the Terrorfin, use Nightmare Nightcrawler bait at 66, 44 or 72, 40 in Val'Sharah. For the Thorned Flounder, use Drowned Thistleleaf bait at 61, 52 in Val'Sharah.

4

Catch Highmountain Rare Fish

For the Ancient Highmountain Salmon, first obtain a Salmon Lure, then catch a Funky Sea Snail which attracts the Bitestone Fishbrul who drops the bait — fish at 35, 78 in Highmountain. For the Coldriver Carp, use Frost Worm bait at 35, 78 in Highmountain. For the Mountain Puffer, use Swollen Murloc Egg bait at 35, 78 in Highmountain — the Swollen Murloc Egg spawns a Murloc who applies a bait spell. For the Axefish, use Message in a Beer Bottle bait at 38, 10 in Highmountain.

5

Catch Stormheim Rare Fish

For the Oodelfjisk, use Ancient Vrykul Ring bait which allows you to see Oodelfjisk Schools. For the Thundering Stormray, obtain the appropriate bait for that fish as well. Note that one player spent over 40 minutes and 4 Arcane Lures trying to catch the Moosehorn Hook in Stormheim — if it proves extremely difficult, the Moosehorn Hook can sometimes be found on the Auction House.

6

Handle the Sleeping Murloc Correctly

When you fish up the Sleeping Murloc, slap it to wake it, then immediately follow it as it runs away — it drops fish on the ground that you must pick up. Do not wait or attack it, as the dropped fish on the ground will despawn if you delay.

Tips

  • Fishing from open water is significantly slower than using bait and Arcane Lures — always use the appropriate bait for each rare fish.

  • Use the Group Finder (search 'fish', 'margoss', or 'drowned mana') to farm Drowned Mana faster for purchasing Arcane Lures from Conjurer Margoss.
