Improving on History
Complete the quest line "Balance of Power," unlocking a new appearance for your artifact weapon.
Improving on History is a 10-point achievement earned by completing the Balance of Power quest line, which unlocks a new cosmetic appearance for your artifact weapon.
Complete Order Hall Campaign
Before Kalec appears in your Order Hall, you must complete your Order Hall Campaign through A Glorious Campaign, Forged for Battle, and Roster of Champions. Kalec typically appears 1–3 days after these are finished.
Pick Up The Power Within
Speak to the Image of Kalec in your Order Hall, located next to your Artifact Forge, to accept The Power Within — the starting quest of the Balance of Power chain.
Complete Mythic Eye of Azshara
Travel to Azurewing Repose to pick up Eye of Azshara: The Heart of Zin-Azshari, then enter Mythic Eye of Azshara and complete the required objective. Note that this quest and the following Mythic dungeon quest share a weekly lockout, so both must be completed within the same week.
Complete Mythic Darkheart Thicket
Return to Azurewing Repose to pick up Darkheart Thicket: Fallen Power, then enter Mythic Darkheart Thicket and complete it. At this stage you will also pick up Vainglorious Past and Tempering Darkness from Azurewing Repose.
Complete Lucid Strength Quest
Return to Azurewing Repose and turn in your quests, then pick up and complete Lucid Strength, also picked up from Azurewing Repose.
Run Emerald Nightmare on Normal+
Pick up In Nightmares and Essence of Power from Azurewing Repose, then enter the Emerald Nightmare on Normal difficulty or higher. You must collect 30 
Corrupted Essence from enemies inside the raid to complete Essence of Power.
Complete Essential Consumption
Return to Azurewing Repose to turn in your quests and pick up Essential Consumption. If you have not yet completed the Moonguard Stronghold story in Suramar, the optional quest Saving the Guard will also be available here.
Continue Through Remaining Quests
Continue the chain through Repaid Debt, Lost Knowledge, Borrowing Without Asking, Rite of the Captain, Literary Perfection, Twisted Power, A True Test, Seeking the Valkyra, The Mark, Retrieving the Svalnguard, A Feast Fit for Odyn, Presentation is Key, and finally Odyn's Blessing to complete the chain and unlock the artifact appearance.
Tips
The Mythic Eye of Azshara and Mythic Darkheart Thicket quests share a weekly lockout window — if you are locked out of either dungeon, you cannot complete those quests until the next weekly reset.
Work toward your Order Hall Campaign, Suramar story progress, and any required reputations as early as possible, since waiting until a quest forces you to do them will add significant time to completing the chain.
